The Four Towns along Three Creeks and Rivers

Tumut River flow is Geographically unique, Fresh Alpine water that flows from the Mount Jagungal in the Snowy Mountains, over 182-kilometer distance, joined by 12 tributaries, including Doubtful Creek, Happy Jacks Creek, and Goobarragandra River.

Batlow area there is the Reedy Flat Creek, which flows into Gilmore Creek. On the East side of the Old Tumbarumba Road, there is the Hindmarsh Creek that flows into the Adelong Creek. The Reedy Flat Creek and the Hindmarsh Creek are only about 2 kilometers apart at the West side of the Batlow Hill.

Finally, these fresh waters flow downstream and meeting it’s confluence with the Alpine Tumut River at the Murrumbidgee River, at Darbalara near the town of Gundagai.

The Adelong Creek rises below Wondalga, southwest of Batlow sourced by runoff from the Australian Alps, part of the Great Dividing Range. The creek generally flows north through the towns of Adelong and Tumblong, joined by one minor tributary, before reaching its confluence with the Murrumbidgee River southwest of Gundagai. The Adelong Creek descends 239 meters (784 ft) over its 46-kilometer (29 mi) course.
